We are looking for an individual who can...
Commit to the band & music,
Stay away from hard drugs,
Avoid drinking like it is going out of style,
Is between the ages of 18-24,
Is down with rehearsing at least twice a week,
Doing at least two gig a month,
And recording a record,

We are a rock band...
A singer that tends to remind people of... Johnny Cash, Ian Curtis, and or Black Francis,
A guitarist who shreds unlike most with a sound that can only be defined as strange,
A bassist who keeps the band in line,
Performances that tend to drag people off the street and dance... at times [dancing that is],
Music that has been described as... 'southern rock' 'blues' 'brit rock' 'trip rock' and as of recent... 'desert rock',

All in all, we would like a permanent drummer for this band. One we can adopt into the family... you know?

e-mail us at: americanstrange@ymail.com
Or catch us through the myspace...
www.myspace.com/americanstrange

We are currently wrapping up our next EP due to release before the end of the year. We have a really good fill in drummer, however, we would really like to find a member who can really call this band home.

So, if you feel interested, please do contact us and let us know if you would like to try out.

Frontman Looking to Start/Join Rock Band

Hey there!

Im a 24yr old, singer, rhythm/lead guitarist and Im looking to start OR possibly join a rock'n'roll band (if I like the songs). I've been playing guitar for about 8 years and have been in several bands, including the Dallas band "BORDERLINE" Check the links below.

myspace.com/borderline85
myspace.com/stephenpayne85
youtube.com/stephenpayne85

The music I write/sing is mostly inspired by the "seattle grunge rock scene" that exploded in the 1990's. Bands like Nirvana, Alice In Chains, STP, Soundgarden, Hole, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Candlebox,Black Flag and "sound alikes" such as The Toadies, The Pixies, The Foo Fighters, Bush, OLD Greenday/Offspring/Smashing Pumkins, Nickelback, Seether, Creed, Puddle of Mudd, RHCP, Local H, ect......
However, even though this is my favorite genre, I still like random good stuff like Crazy Horse, Boston, Soul Asylum, Radiohead, Jimi Hendrix, Mommas and Pappas, Doors, Chuck Berry, Jeffersons Airplane, Metallica, Beck, Leadbelly, Weezer, U2, Kings of Leon, Lincoln Park ect..
In short, I just like a simple, melodic, rockin tune, with heart/passion. Idols include (in order of importance) Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain (of Nirvana) John Lennon, Brandon Lee and maybe...Elvis Pressely.
I have my own transportation/equipment, NO wife/kids (that I know of) Im still young, live in wylie, can book gigs, have rehearsal space...

A studio recording you can afford in Garland, Texas

posted: November 19, 2009, 05:42 AM

Replytomj@flash.net

So many ads here for recording studios. I know that all musicians enjoy recording. You've got a lot of choices: Do it yourself, record in somebody's home studio, record with a student in a recording school, go to a full-time studio. I've done all of these, too.

My studio is kind of different. I'm in a small, professional studio that is growing into a big studio. I'm doing this by low prices, hard work and excellent results.

I've spoken with people that are in a band and can't get the right drum sound by recording themselves. I know what that's like. I can solve that. They've brought in tubas, sitars and choirs. No worries.

I've spoken to rappers and singers that hate the sound of their own microphones, even if it's only for a mix tape. I've spoken to lots of rappers that are spending too much money for studio time, when they aren't really doing anything very complicated. They just need a great mic and some production help. I do that a lot.

I've met singer/songwriters that want to capture their music in its best form. Professional quality, they welcome ideas about working the sound to build a song that they have only imagined so far. This is easy if you have the right tools - I do.

Finally, I've met bands that have never recorded and they just want to get it done inexpensively and have it sound like a million bucks. I've totally been there.

So, why should you bring your recording project to Garland Recording Studio? I know that you could record anywhere. I know that you are making a recording that you'll keep your entire life and this is extremely important to you.

I've got the tools and the experience to get your project captured right. We'll do it all together; record, mix and master. You'll leave with a finished CD. My studio is in a commercial building near downtown Garland, the rent is not high, so I don't have to charge very much. I have a full time job with benefits already, so I don't rely on studio income to feed my kids. I don't have to charge you very much to keep the studio open. In fact, I price it at the very lowest hourly rate that I can - because I want the studio to stay packed with happy customers. I want somebody in there recording every night. That's the way I am building my business, and that's the way it has been for nearly two years in this location.

I am still running at only $ 25 per hour to record, mix and master.

What do you get for your money? Neumann microphones (U87Ai vocal mic, matched pair KM184MT mics, Sennheiser 421 drum mics, plus more). API preamp (API 512C) and API 550B equalization. Pro Tools, with WAVES Mercury and SSL bundles for effects. Need an amp or keyboard? I've got the best: Marshall tube (Triple Super Lead) amp and a Yahama ES8 Motif. 5 string Fender American deluxe bass guitar. Lots more instruments. I am careful to buy the highest quality studio equipment . I select tools that will result in the best quality recording. I'm not going to tell you that my vocal mic sounds just like a Neumann U87... You're going to be using a real Neumann U87, at a price you can actually afford. And there's nothing that sounds as good as this mic. You already know that.

I work fast, and I am an excellent Pro Tools editor. We're going to get it DONE. Probably faster than you've ever seen anyone work in Pro Tools. I'd love to show you what I mean... how about a studio tour?

I am a careful listener. If you have an idea, if you have effect that you like or don't like, I am working for you and will honestly work with you. I'm a grown up man, I'm going to treat you with courtesy and make sure you are getting what you want. I've got hundreds of happy customers that will confirm this, if you'd like. I can send some you phone numbers on request. Or just come out and visit the studio and see for yourself.

Finally, I am a one man shop. I don't pay additional staff to answer my phone or record when I am not available. I don't have to pay anybody's salary. I record every single person that comes into my studio. Everything that is recorded at Garland Recording Studio reflects on me, and goes out the door in a way that I am proud of. I frequently run in to customers and friends all over Dallas, I often connect my customers with other musicians or venues and I value those friendships. I go out of my way to protect our relationship. That is a promise, and it's one that a lot of people enjoy with me. I'm glad to be a part of your success, and I want us to work together for years to come.

I hope you'll take a minute to listen to the sample recordings on my studio's web site.

http://www.garlandrecordingstudio.com

I also hope you'll give me a call. Tell me about your recording project and I'll lay out a plan that will really help you get it done inexpensively and sounding professional.

Thanks.

-Tom

Band Looking For Good Female or Male Singer In DFW

Hi,

Thanks for thanking the time to read our ad.

We (Guitar, Bass, and Drummer) are looking for a GOOD, Solid, Professional Singer for our band. That can be a hard person to find in the DFW area. Let me just say that we are professionals, and we are looking for the same. We are not placing this add to waste your time, or ours. I know that sounds cold. But, I mean it in the best possible way.

The drummer and I have both been in signed bands over the last 10 years. We have too many credits to go into here. We are very professional with pro gear and pro attitudes.

We seek a female singer who is versatile. Some good influences could include the singers for "HALESTORM", "Evanescence", Ann Wilson, Tracy Bonham, Chrissie Hynde, Debbie Harry, Melissa Etheridge, Susan Tedeschi, Janis Joplin, Siouxie Sue, Exene Cervenka, Patti Smith, etc.

Or a male singer who is versatile. Some good influences could include, Chris Cornell, Maynard James Keenan, Ian Gillan, Robert Plant, Layne Staley, etc.

I understand that it can be hard starting a new band, we are at that point right now. Once we find the right person it will go fast. We have a ton of songs ready to go. We just need you.

Thanks again,

Band

Established band looks for committed drummer!

Hello,

My name is Otter and I am the lead singer/manager for my band of brothers called Night Gallery. We are an alt rock group from all over DFW and we are in search of a new drummer between the ages of 21 to 30.

Now instead of giving you a laundry list of requirements like most bands do, we only ask of 5 things.

1. Must be committed!

2. Must have a job! (dont care if you work at Taco Bell)

3. Must have own equipment!

4. Must have transportation!

5. No DRUGS!!! (alcohol is ok as long as it does not run your life)

Although experience is key we will not hold it against you if you dont have 13 years playing under your belt. After all there is always room to learn and grow, especially with your brothers in arms.

Now for a little bit about us. The band has been together for a little over a year and we have already made a little head way in the local scene. We dont want to boast about some of our accomplishments becasue thats just not our style. We are very humble about the oppertunities that have come our way and consider ourselves lucky. At the bottom of this post I have provided a link to our myspace. I would tell you about all of our influences but I would rather just have you take a listen for yourself. Not that I am lazy, I just feel that we are doing something different that what most people are doing. We like to have fun and we quote movies constantly, but we take what we do seriously.

We recently made our practice home at Pro Rehearsal Studios in Dallas (Iron Ridge location) where we currently practice twice a week. We have shows lined up and new material to be worked on, so we are ready to find the right person to step in.

If you like what you hear and are inrested in auditioning for our band please feel free to respond back to us, or you may text me at anytime @ 817-925-8806 and we will get the ball rolling.

Thanks for your time!

Your brother in rock,

Otter
