Fun and Excellence at 20% lesson than comparable quality instruction. Mention this ad for $40 off one month of sessions.

Promethean Studios is the premier location in the Metroplex for lessons and bands, at prices 20 percent less than comparable quality instruction. We offer beginner through professional level lessons and bands, for all ages, at all levels, in all styles of music. Guitar, Voice, Piano-Keyboards, Drums-Percussion, Bass, Sax, Flute, Trumpet, Oboe, Ukulele, Mandolin, Praise & Worship, and Songwriting Lessons in the Dallas-area.

YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY on lessons unless you have a great teacher with a great program. With excellent instructors and learning techniques students grow at an accelerated rate, cutting their learning time dramatically (and the amount of money ultimately spent on lessons). In our studios, you will have a personable player as a teacher, who crafts our program to enable you to play or sing the music you love, not the music your teacher likes.

Our teachers have observed over 100 student lessons, they have learned and follow the Promethean curriculum for their instruments, and have played an average of 15 years. Promethean teachers are career musicians; they’re dedicated players and singers skilled in their art, who understand what it feels like to want to make music. Our methods teach people to become great while having a blast. Our students become musicians and players or singers who like what they’re doing, not just people who take lessons. And they get to play and sing the songs they love while still learning correct techniques.

BANDS: In addition to private lessons we offer various styles of bands. Be in a band (4 to 10 students) that plays music you love with other people your age, like yourself, and with a teacher to lead, supervise, and critique. You’ll play cool songs, maybe get a chance to improvise or write a song with the group. Your band will meet once a week for 4 months and culminate in a live performance which will be recorded and you’ll get a CD. All instruments are welcome, not just ones we teach - Guitar • Keyboard-Piano • Voice • Drums • Bass • Winds • Strings!! Styles of bands offered are Country, Jazz, Classic Rock, Classical, Modern Rock, R & B, Praise & Worship, Blues, and Metal.

Call 972-422-3362, email us at info@dallasmusiclessons.com, or visit our website at WWW.DALLASMUSICLESSONS.COM for more information.

Acoustic Control Corporation VINTAGE Bass Rig

Ive lost my job and am forced to sell this sweet VINTAGE, ALL AMERICAN Acoustic Control Corporation Bass Rig. ACC 402 2x15 Cab with matching ACC 220 Bass Amp. Do your research, these were used by the greats...umm maybe Jaco Pastorius, John Paul Jones, Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone ring a bell to mention a few. This unit is in perfect working condition, will not be sold seperatly, and is available for pick up or shipping if you forward the fee to cover it. It has all the hard rock, punk, jazz, and blues tonalities you could ever ask for, and with a little compression and distortion, this thing blows away modern metal amps for a third of the price. In 1977 the unit cost more than Im selling it for today...ridiculous. take a look at the 1977 price list ($approx. $700 then which equates to much presently) Asking Price is $650 firm.

Serious Inquiries only. Do your research. This amp kills....sad to see it go...

Berklee Graduate Looking for Students

posted: November 12, 2009, 11:39 AM

Hello my name is Phil, you can read about my education and exploits in the other section so we'll just get right down to what I try to teach in these lessons. First and foremost I try to make lessons fun...it makes both the lesson and the learning process go so much easier. I try to make every students lesson as individual and through provoking as possible...no cookie cutter lessons, where "Billy" down the street is working on the exact same thing. Every student learns at a different rate and progresses differently so even 2 students who start on the exact same day will have extremely different things to work on. I also try to make the lessons something that the student wants to play, so unless they ask to learn how to play "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" we'll avoid playing things like that in favor of playing things that they are interested in playing...I try to utilize modern teaching methods utilizing things like powertabs and backing tracks(all available for free online) to help make learning all the more interesting and fun)

I am primarily a rock/pop player but can offer instruction in numerous styles and various techniques. I have lots of performing and recording experience to draw on as well to help students in practical situations as well.

Here's the part that's always difficult talking yourself up:

Well to start I graduated from the Berklee School of Music in 1997 with my degree in Music Performance and a minor in Music Education. While there I had the opprotunity to study with many instructors and also to take some special private lessons with Steve Vai(world renowned solo artist who has also played with Frank Zappa, Whitesnake, and David Lee Roth) as well As Joe Diorio(Jazz Guitarist/Instructor with far to many credits to list) Before attending college, I studied for a year with Richie Kotzen(Well known solo artist who has also performed with Poison and Mr. Big) After returning from college I studied with Jimmy Bruno(former leader of Frank Sinatra's band and also played with Buddy Rich)

I recently wrote a series of lessons that will be featured in a national guitar magazine and I am in the process of recording video presentations of those lessons for their website

I have performed in a variety of bands from all original Progressive Rock to Funk, fusion, and Popular/Classic Rock Covers, I also have been involved in a Frank Zappa tribute/cover band while I was still in college. I have performed with many musicians including Charles Fambrough, who is most known for working with Wynton Marsalis, Art Blakey and Grover Washington Jr. As well as other well known East Coast Jazz musicians such as Roger Prieto, and Bootsie Barnes, known for playing with Jazz Organ player Joey Defrancesco, and Maynard Ferguson, most famous for the Rocky Theme and Tom"Bones" Malone former band leader on Saturday Night Live as well as The Blues Brothers(the last 2 were when I was still in High School and playing Jazz Festivals. I also have performed with Tom Kozic, former Eddie Rabbit guitar player, and performed several gigs from 1999-2000 with a band called Halestorm known for their hit I Get Off. I have many other performing and Recording Credits as well

I offer personalized lessons utilizing modern techniques and interesting Proven methods. Contact me for more info

Guitar Lessons! Think you already KNOW how to PLAY? Or just starting out?

posted: November 9, 2009, 04:06 PM

Replyclick here

I know, I know, anyone can get almost everything they need to learn about guitar on-line, right? You can get tabs that are about 50% accurate, you can learn scales that hopefully will be correct, you can get the wrong names of chords all day long, and if you want to learn anything about songwriting, you can just copy someone else's material and change a couple of notes to make it your own. Hmmm, that may explain why there seems to be a lot of crappy new music these days, without any sense of creativity. Those of you comfy with that, its cool with me if you just stop reading this ad now! Those who want to put their creativity and imagination to something worthwhile, follow along please!

Just starting out? Come to me and learn basics the proper way, then quickly and easily get to the fun of carving a pathway directly to the main stage, using your own brain, style, and tastes that will have others following you there.

Already think you can play? Whether a little or a lot, I guarantee you, you know NOTHING about "Melodic Guitar Fluidity". Also, you can't learn on-line how to play with other guitarists and musicians, how to put you're creative pieces together into a 'recordable' composition, how something you create will sound with another guitar doing a separate part, or most of all if what you've created would even be "in key" and possible for other parts to be added around it. Well sure, maybe your computer will digitally 'mimick' another guitar or play 'loops' all day long, but in case you're not aware, none of that is comparable to real musicians playing real music, trust me.

At price rates lower than almost any other, you can start taking beginner->intermediate->advanced level one-on-one guitar lessons, and if you're 'man' or 'woman' enough to venture into the creative imagination world of mine, you will learn from a personally developed curriculum of truly fun exercises and techniques <-some things NO ONE ELSE can teach you-> which are my own ways of "MELODIC GUITAR FLUIDITY". All of which is based around a musical style and background that consists of a hardrock/funk/blues/jazz with strong melodies along-side fluid, smooth guitar rhythms and songs.

My teaching focuses first on the basics (reading tablature, chords, scales & modes, chord progressions, and keynote functionality (playing within keys))- most of which will be learned directly from your own personally selected music with your favorite artists or songs, of course translated in my terms in the most logical ways possible, right to you! As the basics are being taken in by the student, we begin to gradually work toward the truly fun aspects of music and learning things that are rarely taught within these types of private guitar lessons. The next levels that I will take you into will consist of IMPROVISATION, PERSONAL TECHNIQUE DEVELOPMENT, and SONG CONSTRUCTION and DECONSTRUCTION where the student will learn the basics of songwriting in whatever style they choose and will have the chance to write and record their own music. About halfway through that stage the student will also have the chance to work with other musicians on their same learning level (if they choose). Finally, the student will have the opportunity to learn about stage performance (i.e. how to play with others, how to maintain guitar techniques in front of an audience, and how to develop showmanship while playing to the best of their ability).

All of these steps, of course, are taught on an individual basis at the student's own comfortable learning pace, and each learning level will only be covered if/when the student chooses.

Music instructor new to the area now taking students- unique methods

posted: November 9, 2009, 02:05 PM

Replybrentmarley@yahoo.com

Professional guitarist/bassist/drummer now taking on new students of all ages.

I have developed my own culmination of techniques for beginning and intermediate players, that will have them playing faster and with more confidence. Learn correct techniques and "useful" music theory that I customize to your level of experience and musical style.

Whatever your music tastes are Rock, Funk, Metal, Jazz, Country, Folk, R&B, Soul, let me help you reach your goals. I pride myself on teaching you only the information that is useful to you and your desires. I can help you learn how to write you're own songs, how to solo, how to improvise, how to start a band, prepare you to be a performing musician, recording, or in any number of areas that musicians need to know.

If you are a beginner, I guarantee that my methods will have you playing faster than instructional DVDs and most instructors, who do not customize their lessons for each student's learning style.

Even if you have been playing for many years, but have plateaued in getting better, I can help you move to the next level. You don't have to start over, I just take the information you already know and make it work for you.

A little about me:

I am 34, and have been playing bass, guitar, and drums for 23 years. I started playing by ear at age 13, performing by 15. As a college student I decided to study music and received a music degree. I have performed hundreds of shows, touring, studio work, including several CDs, music published and placed on TV and movies. I currently perform several nights a week in the Dallas area, literally playing just about any style of music you can think of.

Recently I finished a psychology degree, concentrating on learning and memory. I have learned that everyone has their own learning style, and I try to use my background to help you find the best methods that work for you. I have taught students from age 6 to 60. I teach out of my home in the Lakewood/Lower Greenville area, and can work with your busy schedule to find a time that will work for you and your family.

Please call or email me for more information on my methods or any questions you may have.

Look forward to hearing from you,
Brent Marley

Afrocentric band: ISO upright bassist ... Lou Rawls type band also pop/blues

I'm looking for up right bass players (Jazz/blues), who don't mind coming and sitting in a few times for feel, also hot drummer (who can/will) keep time... we are black musicians who are putting something together Afrocentrically as a work in progress. Avg ages 40-65. It's not just music, but it's also the blood strain.

We want to create not only the hottest sound, but the hottest Afrocentric love, soul and feel through re-emergence of our souls on new music, if you can understand these words, and can meet our rigorous standard, then let me hear from you.

We are in Dallas. There are great opportunities, but only a very few will be chosen quite naturally. A few will be selected for back up too.

Our blues leans in the direction of jazz sounds somewhat, not rock at all.
This is NOT a jam place to hang out. We are a company with direction, and some opportunities staring us in the face right now. Performing paid gigs, studio new cd project must be out 2010, etc., etc.
