Rocker Chic - Singer of Songs - In Search of Musicians to Play Along

Reforming a female fronted classic to modern rock cover band.
After taking some time off, I'm ready to get back out there and ROCK!
I have several years experience as a lead vocalist/front person
and have sung with different bands all over the Dallas area.
I have a wide range vocally as well as in the material I like to sing.
I can sing all the chic songs like: Heart, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Lita Ford,
Janis Joplin, 4-Non-Blondes, etc.,
to name a few, but I also do Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, Ozzy, AC/DC, Rush,
Dio, AudioSlave, Shinedown etc.

Already have a Smokin' lead guitar man that's bad to the bone.
I'm looking for top-notched musicians who want to gig 3 to 5
times a month and are willing to help me get this project back up
and rolling. Or, if you're already an established band in need of
Lead Vocals and Lead Guitar, give me a shout back.

Peace, Love and Rock-N-Roll!!!

Frontman Looking to Start/Join Rock Band

Replywatchtower85@yahoo.com

Hey there!

Im a 24yr old, singer, rhythm/lead guitarist and Im looking to start OR possibly join a rock'n'roll band (if I like the songs). I've been playing guitar for about 8 years and have been in several bands, including the Dallas band "BORDERLINE" Check the links below.

myspace.com/borderline85
myspace.com/stephenpayne85
youtube.com/stephenpayne85

The music I write/sing is mostly inspired by the "seattle grunge rock scene" that exploded in the 1990's. Bands like Nirvana, Alice In Chains, STP, Soundgarden, Hole, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney, Candlebox,Black Flag and "sound alikes" such as The Toadies, The Pixies, The Foo Fighters, Bush, OLD Greenday/Offspring/Smashing Pumkins, Nickelback, Seether, Creed, Puddle of Mudd, RHCP, Local H, ect......
However, even though this is my favorite genre, I still like random good stuff like Crazy Horse, Boston, Soul Asylum, Radiohead, Jimi Hendrix, Mommas and Pappas, Doors, Chuck Berry, Jeffersons Airplane, Metallica, Beck, Leadbelly, Weezer, U2, Kings of Leon, Lincoln Park ect..
In short, I just like a simple, melodic, rockin tune, with heart/passion. Idols include (in order of importance) Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain (of Nirvana) John Lennon, Brandon Lee and maybe...Elvis Pressely.
I have my own transportation/equipment, NO wife/kids (that I know of) Im still young, live in wylie, can book gigs, have rehearsal space...

Tech 21 Sansamp GT2 Analog Modeller Pedal - $75

posted: November 21, 2009, 09:17 AM

For sale is my used GT2. Pure analog sound that blows away digital toys like the POD. Also can be used as an overdrive/distortion pedal or to add an extra channel to a clean guitar amp. Fender, Marshall and Boogie settings with adjustable mic placement and speaker simulation for running direct.

“Architecturally” create your own rig in seconds. You can easily achieve the most sought-after tube amp sounds, and entirely new ones as well. Choose amplifier type, modification and speaker cabinet/mic placement configurations. You can easily mix and match specific sound characteristics in ways that would otherwise be physically improbable, probably impractical and definitely not cost effective. The GT2 is a truckload of great amps in a single, simple pedal. 469-360-8402

Premier Solo Acoustic Performer Available For All Occasions

Replytonyrey99@yahoo.com

Most solo acoustic performers sit on a stool while they strum and croon. I don't do that - I'm emotionally involved with the music I play while I seek to create textures that tickle the ear. And my repertoire contains a very wide variety of pop and rock favorites from the mid-sixties up to the present as well as an assortment of pre-rock classics (Sinatra, Ray Charles, etc.). I combine a highly unique blend of guitar and vocal skills with my intense passion for performing to create an expansive and cohesive sound rarely found in acts of this kind. I will liven up or sweeten up the atmosphere of any event or setting with what I have to offer, whether you want loud or soft, rockin' or chilled. I can also provide classically styled instrumental music for low key gatherings such as dinner parties, wedding ceremonies or art gallery exhibitions.

Affordable Guitar Lessons

My name is David Williams and I have been playing guitar since the age of 11, professionally since I was 18. I am now 45, and still active in the Dallas music scene. I have played in numerous bands, in several states, including Seattle Wa, and Hollywood Ca during the 80’s and 90's. I have composed, and sold several songs to publishers, and right now I play guitar and manage a Dallas cover band called Uncovered. (www.uncoveredrocks.com)

My passion, along with performing, is teaching. I have a handful of young students right now, and am in the position to take in a few more. Students ages 10 and up are welcomed! Right now these are 1 hour, one on one sessions for a flat $30! I do not price gouge and I offer one of the lowest rates you will find!

This is structured criteria where a book is used and fundamentals are stressed. He or she will learn to read music, learn the chromatic scale, learn basic chords, and learn to apply technique that is taught. This is all done at the students pace. Advancement will depend on how much the student practices. He or she must have their own guitar, electric or acoustic. I will also work with experienced guitar players if they are looking to just improve. Each situation is different.

For more information, and to find out if this would be a good fit, reply to this posting or send me an email with a phone number. Or you can contact me at 972-249-7978

Lead guitarist/ songwriting partner wanted to form an original rock band

Replyviolet.george@gmail.com

Lead guitarist/songwriting partner wanted to form an original rock band. This is a brand new project and will also require a drummer. A kickass bassist has already been added to the lineup. Basically I’m looking for a songwriting/lead guitarist first to get the ball rolling. My strength is writing lyrics and melodies and I need someone that can write the guitar work for new songs and help choose the rest of the lineup, as well as learn the songs we already have in our arsenal.
Finished tracks can be heard on my Myspace page...www.myspace.come/violetegeorge
If you respond to this ad, you must be willing and able to take this project as far as it can go.
No Hobbyists Please. Also, no hard drugs.

Also, no one over the 35ish range please(unless you just look much younger than your age). I wish I didn't have to add that stipulation, but unfortunately this project's ultimate goal is to get signed and unfortunately record labels have a certain image they want to see before they are willing to invest in you. I wish that weren't so.

If you like what you hear and want to be a part of it feel free to send me a message either via MySpace www.myspace.com/violetegeorge or at my other e-mail address violet.george@gmail.com or call 214-717-2914. If you call and don’t get an answer, please leave a message on my voicemail with your call back number.

Thanks!

A studio recording you can afford in Garland, Texas

posted: November 19, 2009, 05:42 AM

Replytomj@flash.net

So many ads here for recording studios. I know that all musicians enjoy recording. You've got a lot of choices: Do it yourself, record in somebody's home studio, record with a student in a recording school, go to a full-time studio. I've done all of these, too.

My studio is kind of different. I'm in a small, professional studio that is growing into a big studio. I'm doing this by low prices, hard work and excellent results.

I've spoken with people that are in a band and can't get the right drum sound by recording themselves. I know what that's like. I can solve that. They've brought in tubas, sitars and choirs. No worries.

I've spoken to rappers and singers that hate the sound of their own microphones, even if it's only for a mix tape. I've spoken to lots of rappers that are spending too much money for studio time, when they aren't really doing anything very complicated. They just need a great mic and some production help. I do that a lot.

I've met singer/songwriters that want to capture their music in its best form. Professional quality, they welcome ideas about working the sound to build a song that they have only imagined so far. This is easy if you have the right tools - I do.

Finally, I've met bands that have never recorded and they just want to get it done inexpensively and have it sound like a million bucks. I've totally been there.

So, why should you bring your recording project to Garland Recording Studio? I know that you could record anywhere. I know that you are making a recording that you'll keep your entire life and this is extremely important to you.

I've got the tools and the experience to get your project captured right. We'll do it all together; record, mix and master. You'll leave with a finished CD. My studio is in a commercial building near downtown Garland, the rent is not high, so I don't have to charge very much. I have a full time job with benefits already, so I don't rely on studio income to feed my kids. I don't have to charge you very much to keep the studio open. In fact, I price it at the very lowest hourly rate that I can - because I want the studio to stay packed with happy customers. I want somebody in there recording every night. That's the way I am building my business, and that's the way it has been for nearly two years in this location.

I am still running at only $ 25 per hour to record, mix and master.

What do you get for your money? Neumann microphones (U87Ai vocal mic, matched pair KM184MT mics, Sennheiser 421 drum mics, plus more). API preamp (API 512C) and API 550B equalization. Pro Tools, with WAVES Mercury and SSL bundles for effects. Need an amp or keyboard? I've got the best: Marshall tube (Triple Super Lead) amp and a Yahama ES8 Motif. 5 string Fender American deluxe bass guitar. Lots more instruments. I am careful to buy the highest quality studio equipment . I select tools that will result in the best quality recording. I'm not going to tell you that my vocal mic sounds just like a Neumann U87... You're going to be using a real Neumann U87, at a price you can actually afford. And there's nothing that sounds as good as this mic. You already know that.

I work fast, and I am an excellent Pro Tools editor. We're going to get it DONE. Probably faster than you've ever seen anyone work in Pro Tools. I'd love to show you what I mean... how about a studio tour?

I am a careful listener. If you have an idea, if you have effect that you like or don't like, I am working for you and will honestly work with you. I'm a grown up man, I'm going to treat you with courtesy and make sure you are getting what you want. I've got hundreds of happy customers that will confirm this, if you'd like. I can send some you phone numbers on request. Or just come out and visit the studio and see for yourself.

Finally, I am a one man shop. I don't pay additional staff to answer my phone or record when I am not available. I don't have to pay anybody's salary. I record every single person that comes into my studio. Everything that is recorded at Garland Recording Studio reflects on me, and goes out the door in a way that I am proud of. I frequently run in to customers and friends all over Dallas, I often connect my customers with other musicians or venues and I value those friendships. I go out of my way to protect our relationship. That is a promise, and it's one that a lot of people enjoy with me. I'm glad to be a part of your success, and I want us to work together for years to come.

I hope you'll take a minute to listen to the sample recordings on my studio's web site.

http://www.garlandrecordingstudio.com

I also hope you'll give me a call. Tell me about your recording project and I'll lay out a plan that will really help you get it done inexpensively and sounding professional.

Thanks.

-Tom

Fun and Excellence at 20% lesson than comparable quality instruction. Mention this ad for $40 off one month of sessions.

Promethean Studios is the premier location in the Metroplex for lessons and bands, at prices 20 percent less than comparable quality instruction. We offer beginner through professional level lessons and bands, for all ages, at all levels, in all styles of music. Guitar, Voice, Piano-Keyboards, Drums-Percussion, Bass, Sax, Flute, Trumpet, Oboe, Ukulele, Mandolin, Praise & Worship, and Songwriting Lessons in the Dallas-area.

YOU ARE WASTING YOUR MONEY on lessons unless you have a great teacher with a great program. With excellent instructors and learning techniques students grow at an accelerated rate, cutting their learning time dramatically (and the amount of money ultimately spent on lessons). In our studios, you will have a personable player as a teacher, who crafts our program to enable you to play or sing the music you love, not the music your teacher likes.

Our teachers have observed over 100 student lessons, they have learned and follow the Promethean curriculum for their instruments, and have played an average of 15 years. Promethean teachers are career musicians; they’re dedicated players and singers skilled in their art, who understand what it feels like to want to make music. Our methods teach people to become great while having a blast. Our students become musicians and players or singers who like what they’re doing, not just people who take lessons. And they get to play and sing the songs they love while still learning correct techniques.

BANDS: In addition to private lessons we offer various styles of bands. Be in a band (4 to 10 students) that plays music you love with other people your age, like yourself, and with a teacher to lead, supervise, and critique. You’ll play cool songs, maybe get a chance to improvise or write a song with the group. Your band will meet once a week for 4 months and culminate in a live performance which will be recorded and you’ll get a CD. All instruments are welcome, not just ones we teach - Guitar • Keyboard-Piano • Voice • Drums • Bass • Winds • Strings!! Styles of bands offered are Country, Jazz, Classic Rock, Classical, Modern Rock, R & B, Praise & Worship, Blues, and Metal.
