World famous colorist Jeff Balke will be educating the public about the colorist profession and also introducing his upcoming October workshop that teaches you the tools and tricks for not only coloring with Photoshop, but also how to use color as a storytelling device.

Colorists fill in drawings with color before they are published in products such as comic books. They don't simply apply a basic sweep of color to the drawings. Rather, colorists use art techniques such as shading and color blending to create forms that look three dimensional. They understand how to make shadow and light effects in their work. They also have a strong understanding of color, such as how to use cool and warm colors to create a definite mood in the comics or cartoons.

Currently celebrating his 100th comic book that he's worked on, Jeff has been nominated twice for the Eagle Awards and twice for the Shel Dorf Awards, taking home the 2011 Shel Dorf Award for Colorist of the Year. You may have seen his works in Zenescope publishing such as Charmed, Grimm Fairy Tales, and Tales from Neverland. He is also working with John Carpenter, the creator of the films Halloween, the Fog, and the Thing amongst others who is also putting out books with his wife, Sandy, and her company, Stormking Productions. Other works include Zombies vs Cheerleaders, Forgetten Playground, and others.
