Job DescriptionThe duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is a logical assignment to the position.Job Duties:Reviews and evaluates proposed building plans, specifications, and blueprints to insure that proposed construction complies with building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire, environmental, flood hazard, design, energy, barrier free requirements, landscape, clearing, grading, filling and related codes.Identifies and lists violations required to be resolved prior to approval of construction plans. Provides information and gives advice regarding building and zoning requirements to property owners and contractors.Assists the Permit Technician in processing permit applications and plans, registration of contractors, and balancing cash drawer at permit counter.Assists Building Inspector in enforcing the Customer Service Certification Inspection and the Cross Connection Control Programs as required by the TCEQ.Requires corrections to be made when deficiencies are discovered in plan submittals; assists builders and owners in determining how corrections are to be made to insure conformance to code.Assist the Permit Technician and Department to: (i) prepare monthly reports; (ii) balance funds received daily; (iii) assist in processing applications to the Zoning Commission and Board of Adjustment; and (iv) maintain complete and accurate records of plan reviews and approved plans. Qualifications:Graduation from a high school or GED equivalentMinimum of three (3) years' experience of residential and/or commercial plan review and/or project management; an equivalent combination of education & experience; preference will be given to individuals with International Code Council certificationsA Valid Texas Driver's LicenseInternational Code Council plan review certification, or acquisition within two years (training paid for by Town).Perks:9 Paid Holidays2- Weeks Paid VacationRetirement with Texas Municipal Retirement System with 2:1 match by city after vesting periodPay-for-Performance job evaluation pay ( Up to 2% of quarterly earnings) Company DescriptionHighland Park is recognized as one of the best residential communities in the country.
