Responsible for enforcing life safety regulations, model building codes and local ordinances in all phases of construction. Also, responsible for responding to citizen and departmental complaints.Perform inspections relating to the adopted model construction codes, local ordinances, State Law and Federal Law to determine municate inspection results to permit holder.Read, interpret and explains adopted construction codes and City ordinances to public.Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Track inspection activities and update files/database as appropriate. Research permit records and codes.Assist inspectors and staff in completing daily assignments.Education/ Experience: 60 hours of college credit in a construction related field2 : 4 years construction related experienceInternational Code Council (ICC) CertificationMaster or Journeyman Electrical License Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of principles and practices in building construction and zoning regulationsSkill operating personal computerSkill operating basic office equipmentAbility to read blue printsAbility to interpret code requirements in building construction and the local zoning ordinancesï ICC Certification or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hireï Valid Class C Texas drivers licenseThe incumbent works in a construction work:site environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk. Climbing ladders and light lifting involved.
