Parkland Health and Hospital Systems Emergency Room:
Parkland is seeking Med/Surg Nurses to join our night shift family. Parklands Emergency Department is one of the most well respected EDs in the nation. Our commitment to care is paramount in all that we do. Duties and Responsibilities:
As a member of the ED team, you won't find a better opportunity than a career at Parkland. You'll work with great resources and the latest technology in our state of the art Emergency Department. We triage a high volume of patients every year, making us one of the highest:volume emergency treatment facilities in the country.
The Parkland Emergency Room (ER) provides full:service emergency care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We strive to address everyone who enters the ER with compassion and respect while caring for their needs.
Description Work Shift:
Night Shift
Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Prefer two years of nursing experience.
Must have current, valid RN license or temporary RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or Compact RN license.
Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following: o American Heart Association, American Red Cross or Military Training Network
Required Tests for Placement:
Applicants must pass (85 or above) Dosage Calculation Exam prior to hospital orientation. Current Parkland employees requesting reassignment to role must have current Dosage Calculation Exam on file.
Skills or Special Abilities:
Provides care for assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
Provides continuous assessment, consults with other team members as required and provides nursing care which demonstrates patient centered/patient valued care.
Exercises independent judgment in providing nursing care.
Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
May be required to communicate effectively, via the overhead paging system.
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide direction to non:nursing staff, serve as a preceptor, and serve on rotation as a Charge Nurse.
Must be able to prepare and conduct in:service educational programs.
Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
As applicable, will be required to demonstrate acceptable knowledge of nursing standards of care for specialty care area.
