Responsible for supervising the inspection activities to enforce city ordinances dealing with Property Maintenance, Minimum Housing, Single Family, Multi:Family and zoning Direct Reports (including titles): Code Inspectors (5:14) Oversee daily operations of code inspection including periodic quality control inspections.Develop new programs to further the advancement of staff and the department.Hire, train, motivate and evaluate staff inspectors.Oversee the issuance of notices of violation, citations, contracts and preparation of related correspondence.Oversee enforcement of City Ordinances and International Building and Residential Codes by performing scheduled inspections.Oversee enforcement of minimum housing standards in assigned areas and prepare cases for Housing Standards Board.Prepare and provide leadership to community outreach programs.Ensure all credentialed staff of the Department obtain required continuing education.Oversee community outreach initiatives including literature/documents, PowerPoints and various media.Standardize staff to ensure they are qualified to represent the department at community outreach eventsEnsure the Departmental webpage content is accurate and up:to:date.May be expected to assume any duty or responsibility of Inspector I or Inspector II. Education/ Experience: BachelorA?s Degree in Public Administration, Construction Services, or related field4 : 6 years related in Code Inspection experienceAdvanced training credentialing for Texas Code Enforcement OfficerKnowledge, Skills and Abilities Extensive knowledge of applicable ordinances, laws, codes and regulationsExtensive knowledge of construction standards and inspection proceduresAbility to learn quickly and remain flexible in a fast paced work environmentAbility to maintain neat and concise dataMulti:lingual (Spanish) skills highly preferred ï Intermediate Texas Code Enforcement Officer*, requiredï Advanced Texas Code Enforcement Officer, preferredï Texas Real Estate Commission Professional Inspector License, preferredï Valid Class C Texas drivers license*Based on current code requirementsThe incumbent works in an outdoor environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
