What you’ll be doing...
This co-op position, which is part of the Verizon Campus Program, will give you a chance to channel your drive and enthusiasm while learning from the best minds in the industry. You’ll be front and center, hands-on and contributing your creative energy to high-impact projects from the moment you arrive through the course of this 6-month experience. You will take part in meaningful work and real-life projects within the Network Organization that will help you grow both professionally and personally throughout the program.
In this role, you may be:
Working with our Network Security Operations Center (NSOC).
Monitoring the Global IP network for Verizon Wireline and systems.
Working with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) to identify anomalies, malware, exploit attempts and other attacks on Verizon Wireline network infrastructure and data.
Managing projects and providing smart solutions in presentations to senior leadership.
Gaining knowledge of daily business operations by attending learning programs and training sessions.
Participating in networking activities with other interns, professionals and business leaders.

You’ll need to have:
Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or related major with an expected completion date between December 2018 and June 2021.
Even better if you have:
GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Demonstrated strong analytic, communication, leadership and presentation skills.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-moving, team environment.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite of Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Familiarity with some of the following technologies and disciplines: WAN and LAN, Python, Perl, virtualization technology, OSP and IOF infrastructure.
Experience in the installation/configuration of various operating systems including Windows and UNIX.
Splunk Enterprise Security or similar SIEM experience.
Security certifications such as: GMON, GCIH, GCFE, GCFA, CEH, GCIA, SSCP and Network/Security+ or similar.
Statistical data collection and reporting experience.
