Who we re looking for
Toyota s Technical Analysis Group is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Design and Technical Analysis Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to analyze technical issues relating to vehicle safety, performance, and quality. Reporting to the National Design & Technical Analysis Manager, the person in this role will support the Product Liability department's objective to provide a customer first experience to our owners.
What you ll be doing
+ Work on a team, including with associates from other departments or affiliates, to evaluate reported product concerns and product performance
+ Manage the technical aspects of field incident evaluation, including accident analysis, quality performance, and customer vehicle concerns. Review and analyze matters and provide technical feedback in a timely manner.
+ Provide design analysis and forensic engineering support concerning:
+ Vehicle accident reconstruction
+ Causes of vehicle accidents
+ Biomechanical and injury mechanism evaluations
+ Design history of vehicle structures and systems
+ Vehicle crash test performance and vehicle evaluations
+ Regulatory compliance and government testing
+ Industry engineering practices
+ Materials engineering issues
+ Develop engineering evaluations and opinions through design analysis and technical analysis. Engineering evaluations and opinions will be utilized to help develop strategy for responding to claims and lawsuits by providing a sound technical basis for incident and product performance evaluation.
+ Support of asbestos-related matters
+ Perform vehicle inspections, accident scene inspections and testify at depositions, arbitrations and trials
+ Analyze and evaluate new/prototype products when requested
+ Utilize communication skills to explain highly technical subject matters
+ Provide other technical or engineering input, upon request
What you bring
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably with a mechanical or electrical emphasis) is required
+ Solid professional level experience in an automotive product development or evaluation environment
+ Background in materials engineering
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain highly technical subject matters
+ Strong problem solving skills
+ Exemplary interpersonal and organizational skills
+ Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
+ Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time
Added bonus if you have
+ Familiarity with accident reconstruction, vehicle safety systems, federal motor vehicle safety standards, vehicle and component testing, vehicle diagnostic scan tools, and product developmental processes and procedures
+ Advanced engineering degree
