This position will focus on tax planning and strategy for all Daisy entities, operations of the tax group, compliance related matters and other ad-hoc tasks deemed necessary. This position will require a strong knowledge base in federal and state taxes, sales and use tax, and tax depreciation. This role is essential in maintaining a strong accounting resource for Daisy Brand. MAJOR ACTIVITIES TO ENSURE ACHIEVEMENT OF KEY RESULTS AND DELIVERABLES Tax Operations Review/validate all tax returns prepared internally or externally Prepare and/or review tax returns such as sales/use tax and state returns Prepare and/or review tax depreciation and ad hoc schedules as needed for federal tax return Research federal, state and local tax code to ensure compliance Manage tax compliance workflow Primary liaison with external tax preparers Manage tax accountant, performance reviews and career pathing/development Constantly strive for innovation and continuous improvement and provide recommendations to Controller Provide constant feedback to Controller to ensure accounting excellence Provide guidance on processes and procedures to ensure uniform application and compliance to policies and procedures Support executing the Finance and Accounting department strategy Compliance Federal tax. Will include preparing and/or reviewing tax depreciation schedules. State tax. Will include preparation and/or review of returns. Sales/Use tax. Will include research as well as making decisions on taxability. Property tax. Provide assistance to Fixed Assets as needed. Primary liaison for all tax audits Primary liaison for incentive packages Any other ad-hoc tax compliance that may arise Strategy Collaborate with external groups to ensure global understanding of tax structure and alignment of tax strategy Assess new tax and/or potential upcoming tax regulations and their impact Provide tax planning strategies to minimize tax liability Assist in consulting on tax matters as they arise Ad-hoc Deliver ad-hoc requests in a timely manner KEY RESULTS AND DELIVERABLES (WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE) Strong and dependable resource to the Controller, Finance & Accounting Team and external parties regarding all Daisy Brand tax matters Become subject matter expert in Tax Manager role and deliver timely and accurate results Establish strong working relationships with Accounting & Finance and cross functional departments Be proactive in achieving excellence both for yourself and for your team Consistent and effective approach to managing assigned tasks Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Accounting or related discipline and CPA or CMA required. Master's degree is also preferred. Minimum of 7 years of work experience in financial reporting and general ledger accounting; at least 2 years need to include managing staff Exceptional knowledge of GL accounting, fixed assets and cost control principles, to include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Exceptional computer literacy with advanced Excel and Microsoft Office Suite software; Previous experience with DAX software a plus Experience with independently managing projects and delivering results on-time and accurately Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management; Ability to promote and participate in team environment concepts Strong organizational and analytical skills Proven track record of implementing new/innovative processes and procedures Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare ad-hoc financial reports, statements and projections as needed. Self-starter who can work independently and on several tasks/projects simultaneously, and who can contribute to functional areas of the business outside of the accounting area.
